Era Smartphone Android Rp 1 Juta Dimulai

INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Pembuat chip Marvell menawarkan kit baru di Mobile World Congress pekan depan. Penawaran itu bisa merevolusi smartphone dan munculnya ponsel pintar Android seharga US$99.


Terakhir Marvell meluncurkan chipset baru adalah untuk perangkat e-reader. Keluarnya chip itu juga bertujuan untuk menurunkan harga dan mempercepat peralihan ke buku-buku digital. Perusahaan itu kini kembali dengan prosesor baru untuk ponsel, Pantheon 910 dan 920 dan berjanji membuat harga smartphone makin turun.

Saat ini, sebagian besar smartphone bisa berharga jutaan rupiah. Tetapi Marvell menjanjikan ponsel yang ditenagai chip Pantheon murahnya mampu menangani kekuatan operating system (OS) modern pada smartphone. Bahkan, Vice President Marvell Dai Weili mengklaim visi untuk membuat smartphone massal US$99 sangat nyata bisa terwujud.

Kepala bisnis mobile seluler Marvell, Vivek Chhabra mengatakan chipnya itu akan mendukung platform smartphone Windows Mobile. Namun ia mengatakan Android dan sistem operasi mobile open source adalah yang akan benar-benar mendapatkan manfaatnya. "Kami akan membawa smartphone ke pasar yang sedang berkembang ... di 2010," paparnya.

Kinerja telepon dengan chip Marvell 910 Pantheon tak akan sekuat handset dengan Snapdragon seperti Google Nexus One atau atau HTC HD2. Tapi Chhabra mengatakan, chip itu akan tetap mampu mendukung untuk memutar video definisi tinggi, game 3D dan layar dengan resolusi hingga WVGA (800×480).

Meskipun Marvell belum mengumumkan mitra yang diajak kerja sama, namun Marvell menyebut perusahaan tingkat atas akan dilibatkan.

Sementara Microsoft Corp dengan menggandeng MediaTek juga merencanakan akan menawarkan smartphone yang terjangkau. Handset kaya multimedia berbasis Microsoft Windows Mobile itu ditujukan untuk pasar negara berkembang.

Mediatek adalah perusahaan semikonduktor yang berbasis Taiwan dan berspesialisasi dalam komunikasi nirkabel dan solusi multimedia digital. Kemitraan antara kedua perusahaan ini bertujuan untuk menawarkan smartphone dengan biaya murah untuk negara berkembang China. Kedua perusahaan itu juga menggandeng Marvell Technologies yang sedang mengincar pasar China.

Smartphone yang akan ditawarkan dua perusahaan itu akan berbasiskan Windows Mobile 6 dan memiliki kemampuan sentuh dan menawarkan fitur komunikasi canggih termasuk email dan akses internet.

"Ada kehausan besar untuk smartphone di pasar negara berkembang. Bagi banyak orang, ponsel dibandingkan PC merupakan pintu masuk utama ke internet, sehingga ada permintaan tinggi untuk perangkat komunikasi yang kaya," kata jubir Microsoft.

Sebelumnya Marvell meluncurkan prosesor mobile lain yang secara langsung bersaing dengan chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon untuk smartphone dan smartbooks.

Marvell Armada 618 menindaklanjuti pengumuman Armada 610 bulan lalu dan seperti chipset lain, termasuk kemampuan inti untuk rendering grafis hingga 45 juta segitiga per detik, lebih dari dua kali lipat apa yang bisa diatasi Snapdragon.

"Marvell Armada 618 memungkinkan untuk melakukan lompatan dramatis ke high-end yang menggabungkan kemampuan pilar kunci multimedia dan dioptimalkan daya baterai lebih lama," kata pendiri Marvell Weili Dai.

Seperti Snapdragon yang ada di dalam smartphone HD2 HTC dan Google Nexus One atau OMAP3 TI yang ada di dalam Palm Pre, Motorola Droid dan Apple iPhone 3GS, Armada 618 menggunakan set instruksi ARMv7. "Beberapa tahun lalu, tak seorang pun ingin menggunakan kamera 12-megapixel. Tapi kini harga turun dengan cepat," kata Chhabra. [mdr].

Acer Pasarkan Ponsel Android Rp1,9 Juta

INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Acer mengumumkan lima ponsel pintar terbaru, tiga dengan Android dan dua Windows Mobile 6.5. Acer ingin masuk ke berbagai varian harga dan fitur.

Tiga ponsel Android Acer itu adalah Liquid E, BeTouch E400 dan BeTouch E110 dan masing-masing ponsel akan cocok dengan ceruk pasar di spektrum Android.

Liquid E adalah perangkat Android Acer high-end yang menjalankan versi sistem operasi 2.1 dengan layar sentuh 3,5 inci kapasitas WVGA, kamera 5 megapixel dan prosesor 768MHz Qualcomm.

BeTouch E111 adalah perangkat Android low-end dengan Android 1,5, layar sentuh 2,8 inci dan prosesor ST Ericsson 416 MHz.

Liquid E akan dijual dengan kisaran harga ritel US$500 (Rp 4,8 juta), BeTouch E400 dengan estimasi harga US$300 (Rp 2,88 juta) dan BeTouch E110 US$200 (Rp 1,92 juta).

Model NeoTouch P300 dan NeoTouch P400 keduanya menggunakan Windows Mobile 6.5.3 dan menawarkan layar sentuh 3,2 inci, kamera 3,2 megapixel dan Wi-Fi.

Perbedaan utama antara model-model yang ada adalah P300 memiliki keyboard slide-out QWERTY dan prosesor yang lebih ringan. Harga untuk kedua jenis ponsel belum diumumkan. Meskipun demikian, dengan pengumuman seri Windows 7, dua ponsel berbasis Windows ini sudah cukup baik.

Semua ponsel yang diumumkan oleh Acer akan tersedia di berbagai negara dan dengan kemungkinan handset Acer tersebut akan hadir di Amerika Serikat pada 2011.[ito]

Google Demo Ponsel Bisa Menerjemah


INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Tidak paham arti bahasa asing saat di perjalanan?. Jangan takut Google sedang mengerjakan perangkat lunak yang mampu menerjemahkan teks yang ditangkap oleh kamera ponsel.

Dalam sebuah demonstrasi di Kongres Mobile Dunia, seorang insinyur Google mengambil gambar menu makan malam ala Jerman dengan ponsel yang menjalankan sistem operasi Android.

Sebuah aplikasi di ponsel kemudian mengirim hasil gambar foto tersebut ke server Google yang kemudian mengirimkan balik hasil terjemahan ke ponsel tersebut.

Bertuliskan ‘Fruhlingssalat mit Wildkrautern’ yang artinya ‘Salad musim semi dengan tumbuhan liar’.

Belum ada kabar kapan perangkat lunak canggih tersebut akan tersedia di pasaran.

Perangkat lunak yang menerjemahkan gambar menjadi teks sudah tersedia di beberapa ponsel, tetapi secara umum prosesnya dilakukan di dalam perangkat itu.

Demonstrasi tersebut adalah bagian pidato utama CEO Google Eric Schmidt di pameran perdagangan yang merupakan terbesar dalam industri nirkabel.

Dia mengatakan bahwa aplikasi ponsel akan mengambil keuntungan dari komputasi awan, yakni dengan cara akses server melalui jaringan nirkabel, dan membawa perubahan besar bagi industri telekomunikasi.

Pidato Schmidt juga menampilkan demonstrasi video dan game yang dijalankan di dalam ponsel Android dengan menggunakan Flash. Format itu telah muncul di berbagai halaman web tetapi belum bisa berjalan di banyak ponsel.[ito]

Google: Android Terjual 26 Ribu Unit Per Hari

BARCELONA - Google mengklaim sistem operasi (OS) mobile keluarannya, Android telah terjual sekir 26 juta unit setiap harinya di seluruh dunia. Kini Android telah digunakan oleh sekira 26 model ponsel.

Demikian diungkapkan CEO Google, Eric Schmidt di sela Mobile World Congress di Barcelona, Spanyol, Rabu (17/2/2010).

"Ada 26 ponsel dengan 59 operator di 48 negara dengan 19 bahasa sejauh ini. Dan ini baru awal," ujar Schmidt.

"Kami sekarang telah mengapalkan sekira 60 ribu device Android per hari dan jumlah ini meningkat dua kali lipat di kuartal terakhir lalu," tandas Schmidt.

Schmidt menambahkan jika pertumbuhan jelas sekali terlihat sangat cepat.

"Kami berharap pertumbuhan ini akan berlanjut untuk waktu-waktu mendatang yang masih panjang," tandasnya.

Di Amerika Serikat, OS Android diantaranya diadopsi oleh G1 dan Motorola Droid. G1 dipasarkan oleh operator AS, T-Mobile. Di AS pertumbuhan penjualan Android meningkat 3,5 persen sepanjang tahun 2009. (srn)

HTC Hero, Ponsel Android 'Jagoan' HTC

Jakarta - Akhirnya, ponsel Android yang sudah ditunggu-tungu ini hadir di Indonesia. Dengan kekuatan 'sentuhan' barunya, mampukah jagoan baru HTC ini merebut pangsa pasar Indonesia?



Dari sisi tampilan fisik, HTC Hero memang agak beda dibandingkan HTC Magic. Di bagian bawah ponsel ini, tepat pada area tombol dan navigasi, ada bagian yang agak melengkung. Mirip seperti lengkungan pada bodi kalkulator pada umumnya, namun dalam posisi terbalik.

Saat dijajal detikINET, ponsel ini terasa ringan dan nyaman digenggam. Ditambah dengan trackball di tengah, navigasi pun menjadi lebih menyenangkan.


Tombol 'Search' Di Depan, Bahan Tidak Murahan

Di bagian depan ponsel ini terdapat tombol home, menu, back, send, dan end. Yang paling menarik adalah adanya tombol 'search' yang memudahkan pengguna untuk membuka aplikasi tertentu.

Dengan prosesor Qualcomm sebesar 528 Mhz, ponsel ini cukup responsif saat digunakan untuk mencari aplikasi tertentu.

Teknologi HTC Sense kini hadir di HTC Hero. Sense memiliki desain baru dengan animasi lebih banyak dan menarik. Debutnya akan dimulai pada produk HTC Hero yang hadir dengan Android OS versi 1.5. Pengguna nantinya dapat mengupgrade ke versi 2.0 secara gratis.

Saat dijajal detikINET, kontrol sentuhannya memang sangat responsif dan sekilas hampir sama dengan iPhone. Jika Magic dulu hanya memiliki empat slide, kini dengan sentuhan baru, Hero memiliki tujuh slide halaman.

Hero Akan Menjadi Mainan Baru Operator

"Hero ini bakal menjadi mainan baru para operator. Dengan kedatangan platform Android, respon mereka (operator-red) sangat antusias," ujar Agus Sugiharto, Country Manager HTC Indonesia di Hotel Ritz Carlton Jakarta, saat peluncuran produk ini.

Nah, permasalahan yang muncul adalah operator mana yang mungkin mangadopsi produk ini. Saat ini pihak HTC Indonesia memang sedang melakukan pendekatan dengan beberapa operator besar. Dari pihak HTC memang belum mau membuka operator mana yang akan mengadopsi ponsel Android ini.

Jika sebelumnya HTC Magic diadopsi oleh Telkomsel dirasa kurang 'menggigit' di pasaran, kini beberapa operator lain nampaknya bakal ikut bermain. Berdasar kabar terakhir, XL adalah operator yang cukup serius meminang HTC Hero.

Android pada dasarnya adalah sebuah platform yang membutuhkan koneksi internet cukup baik. Dengan ini, dipastikan operator akan berlomba-lomba menawarkan paket internet yang cukup menarik. Kita tunggu saja siapa pengadopsi jagoan baru HTC ini.

Adobe to demo Flash 10.1 on phones at MWC

Full Flash experience coming to Nexus One, Droid and Palm Pre

Adobe has confirmed that it will demonstrate its eagerly awaited Flash Player 10.1 for smartphones at next week's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

The player will be shown running on Google's Nexus One, Motorola's Droid and Palm's Pre handsets. However, question marks remain over Symbian and Windows Mobile support.

Flash Player 10.1 promises to bring the full Flash experience to most mobile devices for the first time. A beta has been available since October 2009, and the final release is due sometime in the first half of 2010, according to Adobe.

Anup Murarka, Adobe's director of technology strategy for the Flash Platform, said that MWC attendees will see Flash Player 10.1 on the Nexus One, Pre and Droid (known as the Milestone in the UK).

"Development betas are currently underway for Android, Windows Mobile, WebOS, and desktop operating systems," he added.

The Nexus One and Droid run Android versions 2.1 and 2.0 respectively, while the Pre runs Palm's own WebOS, indicating that these platforms at least will be supported.

Murarka said that he was "not sure" about which versions of Windows Mobile will be able to run Flash 10.1.

"We've done the initial work on Windows Mobile 6.5, and we're working with Microsoft to determine the best starting point, but it may end up as Windows Mobile 7," he said.

Microsoft has yet to announce when Windows Mobile 7 will be available.

Other platforms, including Symbian, are set to be supported, but Adobe will only be able to give a more detailed list closer to the launch.

Flash is "the only consistent runtime available across smartphones, netbooks, PCs and other web-connected devices", according to Murarka.

In fact, instead of referring to platforms, it is "easier to ask which specific devices will be supported", he explained, owing to issues with integration and certification by vendors.

However, Adobe expects Flash support on mobiles to grow rapidly, starting from about nine to 10 per cent of handsets this year, ramping up rapidly to at least half within two to three years, according to Murarka.

"We're continuing to work to get Flash on more platforms. It's installed on 98 per cent of all PCs now, and used by 85 per cent of the top web sites," he said.

Adobe claimed that 19 of the top 20 phone makers have committed to integrating Flash.

Samsung reveals first Android phone with DLP Pico projector


Samsung has released several Android phones, but none of them have been compelling enough to warrant a purchase from me. Recently they have been pushing their new Bada operating system and I’m not too sure how serious they are about Android.


That could change with the new Samsung i8520 ‘Halo’ which was revealed at Mobile World Congress. This Android 2.1 device sports some high some-end specs and several features which are new to Android phones.

Highlights of the specs include:

  • 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display
  • 8 megapixel autofocus camera with flash (VGA on the front)
  • Internal memory: at least 2GB (512 MB ROM / 384 MB RAM + 16GB MoviNAND)
  • DLP Pico projector integrated
  • Other features: 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, stereo speakers, standard 3.5mm jack, and DLNA support
  • Operating System: Android 2.1

Unique to this phone is a Texas Instruments DLP pico projector. We have seen these being pushed for a couple years, but this is the first time for an Android phone. The projector can display images from 5 to 50 inches and Texas Instruments thinks it will be the next “must have” feature for your new smartphone.

The another new addition to the Halo phone is Samsung’s new Super AMOLED display. This new panel is claimed to be five times “clearer” and offer 20% better visibility when used outside compared to traditional AMOLED displays. (I think the AMOLED display on the Nexus One is awesome, so I can’t wait see if this actually beats it.)

No details were provided on the CPU, but the new Bada-powered Wave (s8500) phone features a 1 GHz Samsung processor.

The renders that Samsung provided show the Halo with the Bada operating system, but Engadget has confirmed it will ship with Android 2.1. We don’t know if Samsung will include their TouchWiz UI, but we are keeping our fingers crossed they leave it out.
