Android Froyo 'Berlari' 4 Kali Lebih Kencang

Hasil Benchmark (Android police)

Jakarta - Bersiap-siaplah menanti kedatangan Android 2.2 Froyo.

Tunggu saja kabar peluncurannya setelah Konferensi Google I/O, 16-18 Mei mendatang. ( fw / wsh )

Archos 7 Inch Android Tablet To Launch in June

Archos already came out with a 5-inch Android device last fall, but it's clearly hoping to make some waves with its 7-inch, more tablet-y model which is coming out this June. It will sell for $199.99. The Archos device will feature a 600MHz ARM 9 processor (Am I the only one who wishes it was 1Ghz?), Wi-Fi, a USB port, and enough battery life for seven hours of video. That means 44 hours of music playback people!

For me, the most intriguing feature of the Archos 7 has to be the fact that it is only running Android 1.6. That's right, Android 1.6! I just don't know why manufacturers continue to use outdated software. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.

Users will also not have access to the 50,000-plus apps on the Android Marketplace. Instead, you'll have to settle for the custom apps on Archos' own AppLibs storefront. Let's at least hope, these are decent.

Finally, the 7 Home Tablet's 800-by-480 touchscreen only uses resistive technology, which registers taps when the user presses layers of plastic together. Overall, this type of screen is good for a stylus, but not so good for a fingertip. I would also like to mention that most Android phones, the iPhone, and the iPad all use capacitive touch screens. I would assume they chose this screen to keep the price down.

Overall, I am not too sure about this device. I doubt I will purchase it. What do you folks think? Let us know in the comments.

Marvell 1GHz ARMADA 618 mobile chipset & $99 Pantheon smartphone platform outed

Marvell have announced their latest strategy to corner both the high and the low end of the smartphone market. Up at the flagship end comes the Marvell ARMADA 618 [PDF link], a 1GHz ARM v7 Sheeva chipset with support for 1080p HD decode/encode together with 16-megapixel image processing and four simultaneous displays, while at the entry-level point is the Marvell Pantheon platform, a $99 smartphone design suitable for Android, Windows Mobile and other OS’.

ARMADA 618 packages together support for Android, Windows Mobile and Linux, meanwhile, and throws in DirectX, Open GL ES 2.0, and Open VG 1.1 functionality and the ability to render up to 45 million triangles per second. Each of the four displays can be driven at up to 2k x 2k resolution, and there’s support for USB 2.0 (both OTG and Host), various types of connectivity (including WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 and FM), and of course 3G.

As for the Pantheon platform, that’s obviously a little less potent but is still, Marvell reckon, capable of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/FM connectivity, live HD quality video and high performance 3D mobile gaming, with long battery life to boot. The company will be demonstrating it – and ARMADA 618 – at Mobile World Congress next week.

Tablet Android Pesaing iPad Hanya Rp2 Juta

Archos 7 Home Tablet
(IST)

Berita baiknya versi 8GB Archos 7 Home Tablet akan djual seharga US$199 (Rp 1,8 juta), bandingkan dengan harga iPad termurah US$499 (Rp 4,5 juta).
