Google Goggles is a new app for Android-based smartphones that lets users search for more information on an object they see in front of them simply by taking a picture of it.
It lets users search for objects using images rather than words. The user can take take a picture with their phone's camera, and if Google's servers recognize the item, Goggles returns relevant search results.
Right now Goggles can identify landmarks, works of art, and products. Its maker recommends trying it with books, DVDs, landmarks, logos, contact info, artwork, businesses, products, barcodes, or text. Google doesn't recommend trying it with animals, plants, cars, furniture, or cloths.
